Process of Getting a Hearing
In order to bring your case in front of a court, you will need to complete each of the following steps:
- Complete the Order to Show Cause and the Application for Order and Supporting Declaration forms, have the forms reviewed by a lawyer, and make copies of the forms.
- File the forms with a county clerk and pay the filing fee.
- Obtain your court date and mediation date if required.
- Give the other parent the forms already filed and a Responsive Declaration to Order to Show Cause or Notice of Motion form at least sixteen days in advance of your hearing date.
- Have a Proof of Personal Service form filled out and reviewed.
- Attend your mediation and court hearings.
