A California appeals court has made an order that is letting a woman keep the young child that she is adopting in California instead of returning her to Ohio, where her father lives.
The 45-year-old woman has granted that the 2-year-old girl can stay with the woman although her biological father is in Ohio and trying to get custody of her.
Before the adoption of the child was finalized, her father filed for custody. The two people have now been in an 18-month custody battle. The biological father has until August 2 to file an opposition.
